Welcome to GrabScreen. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the controls you have over your data on this platform.
Information We Collect
Screen Recordings: The video files (.webm) you create are uploaded and stored on our server so that you can access, trim, and share them.
Anonymous Session Cookie: We use a single, functional cookie (your "magic_token") to associate your recordings with your browser. This token is a random string of characters and contains no personal information. It is used solely to display your list of files on your return visits.
Email Addresses: We only collect an email address when you voluntarily provide it through the "Email" sharing feature. We do not store this email address after the email has been sent.
How We Use Your Information
To Provide the Service: Your recordings are stored to allow you to view, download, or create clips from them.
To Maintain Your Session: The "magic_token" cookie ensures that when you revisit our site from the same browser, you see your own list of recordings.
To Fulfill Your Requests: When you use the "Email" feature, we use the provided email address to send a one-time email containing the link to your recording.
Your Control and Data Rights
You have complete control over your recordings. Here’s how:
Deleting a File: Using the "Delete" button on a recording will permanently and irreversibly delete the video file from our server. This also removes any public or secure links associated with it.
Forgetting Your Session: Using the "Forget My Session" button will delete the "magic_token" cookie from your browser. This means your list of recordings will disappear from your view, but the files will remain on the server until you delete them individually. This is for your privacy in a shared computer environment.
Public Links: When you create a "Public Link", anyone with that link can view the recording. The link remains active until you delete the source file.
Secure Links: "Secure Links" are temporary and expire after a short period (15 minutes). They are ideal for private, one-time sharing.
Third-Party Services
We use Google's SMTP server to send emails on your behalf. We also use public CDNs to load resources like fonts and scripts for better performance. These third parties have their own privacy policies, and we do not share your recording data with them beyond what is necessary to provide the service (e.g., sending an email link).
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
